Noble County Farm Town
Apartments in Morrison, OK
Welcome to Morrison, the small Noble County town on U.S. Highway 64, a close-knit agricultural community within reach of Stillwater.
Morrison is a town in southeastern Noble County, Oklahoma, in the north-central part of the state, situated on U.S. Highway 64 about sixteen miles east of the county seat of Perry and roughly two miles west of the U.S. 412 Cimarron Turnpike. With a population of about 720, it is a small, long-established agricultural community whose rhythm is set by farming, the local school district, and the surrounding countryside. The community emerged in 1894, when James Morrison, who had acquired the local store, had the post office redesignated in his name that February. Morrison donated forty acres for a town site, which was surveyed and platted in August, and the town incorporated on August 13, 1894. Agriculture has remained central to Morrison's identity through the decades, and the town continues to function as a quiet service point for the surrounding farm country of Noble County. Morrison's defining institution is its school system. Morrison Public Schools operates a compact district of three schools serving roughly 600 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, with a student-teacher ratio of about 14 to 1. The district's small size keeps education locally focused and closely tied to the community, and it is a primary reason families choose to live in the town. The town's location gives residents a practical balance of rural life and regional access. Stillwater, home of Oklahoma State University, lies within a short drive, as do the communities of Pawnee and Perry, while the Cimarron Turnpike provides a direct route toward Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Morrison appeals to households seeking a small, quiet Oklahoma town with strong local schools and convenient highway access to the larger centers of north-central Oklahoma.
