Keystone Lake Town

Apartments in Mannford, OK

Welcome to Mannford, a Creek County lakeside town on 26,000-acre Keystone Lake, just 20 miles west of downtown Tulsa.

Mannford is a small city in western Creek County, Oklahoma, set on the southern shore of Keystone Lake and roughly 20 miles west of downtown Tulsa. It occupies a landscape shaped by the Arkansas River basin, where the rolling, wooded hills of northeastern Oklahoma meet the broad waters of one of the state's larger reservoirs. The city's location off the Cimarron Turnpike gives it a direct connection to the Tulsa metropolitan area while preserving a distinctly small-town, lakeside pace of life. The city's modern form is the result of a remarkable relocation. When the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began building Keystone Dam in the late 1950s, the resulting reservoir was destined to flood the original townsites of Mannford, Keystone, and Prue. Voters chose to move the town, and the current community—sometimes still called New Mannford by longtime residents—was established on higher ground as the lake filled in the early 1960s. The Mannford Museum now preserves artifacts and the memory of those submerged towns. Today Mannford is home to roughly 3,300 people and functions as both a residential community and a regional gateway to Keystone Lake. The economy and daily life revolve around the lake's recreation, local schools, and services that support both permanent residents and weekend visitors. Many residents commute to jobs in Sand Springs and Tulsa, while others are drawn by lakefront living, boating, and the slower rhythm of a small Oklahoma town. The city's identity is inseparable from Keystone Lake. Marinas, boat ramps, campgrounds, and shoreline neighborhoods spread along the water, and the community hosts family-oriented events tied to the lake throughout the year. Mannford offers the unusual combination of reservoir-front property and a short turnpike commute into one of Oklahoma's largest cities.
