Eufaula is a small city in southeastern Oklahoma and the county seat of McIntosh County, situated at the junction of U.S. Highway 69 and State Highway 9, about 30 miles north of McAlester and 32 miles south of Muskogee. Its population of roughly 2,800 belies its regional importance as the gateway to Lake Eufaula, the largest lake entirely within Oklahoma. The city's history runs deep.
