Ada is a city of roughly 16,500 residents in south-central Oklahoma and the seat of Pontotoc County, within the historic boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation. It lies about 85 miles southeast of Oklahoma City and roughly 90 miles southwest of Tulsa, serving as the commercial and institutional center of a largely rural county. The city was named for Ada Reed, the daughter of an early settler, and incorporated in 1901.
